the "Huh" factor! that explains it all...will buy some Brown before it hits 0.65 +

Brown is twice the value of Banks it just cant be on the news of Tindall not standing. Herald must have a poll coming out soon and the insiders are back.

CEO racked up $26,000 on council Visa bill
By JONATHAN MARSHALL - Sunday Star Times

The council chief who defended Manukau mayor Len Brown's credit card use has had to hand over details of his own spending.

Manukau City Council chief executive Leigh Auton's spending habits are contained in 129 pages of material covering the period June 2008 to April 20 this year, obtained by the Sunday Star-Times under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act.

PGC - you should really invest in a Granny Herald today. They have your flower boy on page one and then the Right Wingers sticking it to him in the metro section. Banks should get a refund on his billboard, go fishing and enjoy life.

It may come across as a surprise to you, but I am not a supporter of Banks nor of Brown. I am hoping there will emerge a genuine candidate with integrity, vision and leadership qualities.

We all live in hope but it will be a two horse race.

Just curious but your record of media links appears bias which is OK as I’m bias towards Brown as he has good policy and experienced at delivering in a political environment.

Unfortunately, whilst we can 'hope' for a better candidate, the chances are not looking good at this point.

If someone else did come forward who would be right-favoured and not-Banks, then I think they would do very well as long as Banks could be persuaded to withdraw for reasons of 'health' or something.

Actually, can you imagine:

JB is withdrawing due to his concerns for the people of Auckland, and the liability that his ingrowing toe-nail, albeit 25 years ago and fully cleared up, might mean he would be unavailable to lead the city in a time of crisis.

"I just don't think it is right for me, or anyone else for that matter, to run for Mayor with a serious heart, I mean, medical condition, whether current or past."

Both canidates suffer from foot in mouth. Johns campaign and the C&R line up is well below par. Must hand it to Browns team they have a very professional look. Too late for anyone with a serious chance of winning to come forward. Be good if the Herald did a Digi Poll instead of milking the shallow issue of expenses and publishing readership polls.

Alan thanks for answering PGC. Bottom line is Brown is whipping Banks.

Ok, here are 2 names for example that I would be happy to see stand for Auckland Mayoralty.

Jim Bolger
Michael Cullen

Possible canidates

JB - too old and very up himself. Still haven't forgiven him for backing down on compulsory super.

MC - well he was the one that wanted the "SuperCity" but no, past his use by date.

Ralph Norris?

Cameron Brewer?
Re: Possible canidates

No; Brewer he has pooed well and truly in his nest. Armstrong will whip him and then Cameron will need to leave town to find a real job.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again no one else credible will stand and its going to be a two horse race.

Interesting seeing Williams as a candidate on an equal footing after being characitured as the fool. Metro even claimed he won the debate: [tvnz.co.nz]

Yes - Williams came across well but was quickly written off by the panel. Brown and Banks a draw but it was a messy affair. Is Banks Sugar Daddy back as some big trades today? Still cant workout why such a gap between Brown and Banks when they look a lot closer in the media.

iPredict tends to give the favourite a 10% greater probability compared to other markets. (Just an observation with UK labour candidates and AUS elections)

A lot of "Banks" stock turning over lately without the price going up, backwards if anything. Must be another canidate about to announce that will split Banks vote even more?
Re: Auckland Mayor 2010

@Artist: The Australian prices are now non-crazy. Implied probabilities at CentreBet have Labour at 0.6849 and Libs at 0.3151. We have Labour about three cents higher than that, but that's not a big enough gap to make it worth arbitraging, especially given the margins that CentreBet takes on its prices (which make it impossible rather than just not worthwhile).
