Science and Tech. stock ideas

Its about time we get some more science and tech. stocks up

How about stocks on man reaching mars?
There has been a growing interest for a while to make it actually happen

One with plan and big publicity right now is Mars One
They plan to have people land on the planet in 2023

How about a stock "Mars One puts a person on Mars by 1 Jan 2024" and a couple more stocks with later dates such as "...by 2025" and "...by 2026" with later dates for if they fall behind schedule

It is very long term so I suspect it won`t really have much trading for a while. Though, I sense there could be a certain sense of volitility in the stock as well as people doubt whether they can really do it or not as well so it could make it a bit of fun to watch

Anyone got other ideas as well?

Lets keep renewing the "NASA to announce the discovery of extraterrestrial life before 1 Jan xxxx" each year as well

we may as well put the 2016 one up now as well

An additional Mars related one

"Inspiration Mars to lauch a manned Mars flyby by 1 Jan 2019"

I like this site, but right now what you mention as lack of volume is the biggest drawback. I think we need more practical, short term stocks. I suggested in another post a weather stock, just predict the temperature in New Zealand, where a lot of iPredict subscribers seem to be located.

As per your request, I added 3 science ideas up (ebola vaccine, primate cloning, new element). I don't know if they are any good, but perhaps they will inspire someone to think of better ones.

Could also have stocks on who will get there first, NASA, ESA, China, Mars One etc. Almost all of the major space agencies have indicated they'll be giving it a go in the coming years.

Also NZ startup Rocket Labs has recently attracted a lot of funding, could have some stocks along the lines of "Rocket Labs to successfully launch Electron rocket before 2016 " or similar.

I think that would be a great idea!

One of the other prediction sites has a contract based on which (if any) of the 18 teams will win the 30 million dollar google lunar x prize. The contest ends Dec. 31, 2015.

We should keep an eye on this British challenge which has a 10 million pound prize. It should be up and running by the end of this year. The idea is to prevent the rise of resistance to antibiotics and the challenge "will be set to create a cheap, accurate, rapid and easy-to-use point of care test kit for bacterial infections."

An article from 2013 on some other unclaimed science challenges. Part of the beauty of challenges is that the contracts would be easy and clear cut to judge.

I know that the PETA challenge on page 2 of this article to create meat in vitro is no longer running and some of the others may be out of date also.
