Long Description

This contract pays $1 if the New Zealand Herald ceases production of a hard copy of its daily newspaper by the end of 2016. Otherwise this contract pays $0.

Judging Criteria

The purpose of this contract is to determine the likelihood that the reputable New Zealand media source, the New Zealand Herald, will shift to an almost exclusively digital medium by 2016.

Any discontinuation of the New Zealand Herald physical daily newspaper production will cause this contract to close at $1, regardless of a physical weekly edition or online based service.

If the entire New Zealand Herald is cancelled or stops production for any reason before 2016 that will be perceived as a 'cease of production' and this contract will pay $1. In the event that the rights to the New Zealand Herald is bought by another company, renamed, or sold then this contract will follow the new owner and publication.

If the New Zealand Herald is amalgamated with another newspaper which continues in physical circulation after 2016 then the contract will close at $0.

The New Zealand Herald must remain in its current form as a reputable source of journalism. If the New Zealand Herald continues, but in a form where it is predominantly advertising and circulated without charge then the contract will close at $0.

iPredict's judgment is final.

This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
