How about a contract on when we change our flag? Possibly similar time frame to contracts on when we become a republic.

You could have NZ National Politics instead of NZ Politics and consolidate Next Speaker, Epsom Byelection, ACC & Nick Smith etc.
Then you could consolidate all local body matters in NZ Local Body Politics including some topics currently in NZ Politics
Maybe set up NZ National Party to cover leadership issues in the National Party or consolidate with Labour Leadership maybe in NZ Party P

I agree, under the old regime you always got a reply to your emails, and there wasn't a proliferation of marginal contracts. iPredict should concentrate on Australasian and MAJOR world event contracts.
For the US elections intrade seemed to concentrate on the competitive states. Maybe they had contracts on the non competitive states but you had quick access to where the action was.

Hi admin
Are we going to have weekly dollar and NZX50 contracts this week?
And what about the possiblity of a monthly gold contact rather than the past quarterly one?

Hi admin
I see that you have used the NZUS dollar close from the the previous week (Fri 18th was 0.7591) instead of last Friday's close of 0.75405.

Hi admin
Are you open to the idea of changing the wording of the daily financial stocks so that they are based on the previous trading day's close rather than an actual amount (normally the previouys trading day's close)?
ie Monday 21st May contract would ask if the close on Monday 21st May would be equal to or above the previous trading day's close, no amount specified with a link to the e

I agree with Lanthanide, it would make more sense to run a series of contracts as to when NZ will become a republic.
Then once that step has been reached, run contracts on who will be first president.

"This contract is based on the NZ:US exchange recorded by the RBNZ expressed as the number of US dollars purchased by NZ$1."
Don't both the 11:10am mid-rate and the 2pm fix meet this criteria as they both recorded by the RBNZ on their web page B1 Exchange Rates?

@ Economist, you maybe right, it would be good have the contract defintion changed slightly to clarify the situation. This must be the first time that the 11:10am & 2pm have ended up on either side of the contract start rate, but may not be the last time.

I agree. It is essential that there is a clear statement in the contract as to which rate we are using to avoid confusion.
It appears to me that we have had a shift from the 11:10 am mid-rate to the 2pm fix under the new admin.
Last week's contract had as its base 0.8125 which was Friday 20th April 2pm fix (actually 0.81245), not the 11:10am mid-rate of 0.8147. And this week it seems that w

Hi admin
How are you going to close NZUS.27APR12.UP @ 0.8125? There are two figures on the Reserve Bank B1 Exchange Rates page, the 11:10 @ 0.8124 and the 2pm fix @ 0.81355. One is above 0.8125 and the other is below. For the last couple of weeks you have been using the 2pm Fix as your starting point, so logically it should be the finishing point.
The contract states that:

One option would be to have a more organised look to the categories but to have a featured category at the top. This featured category could be rotated around and/ or be the most topical category.
I Ike the idea of a Shares & Forex category, you could include gold in there as well.
Is there any interest in a daily US dollar contract or a more frequent gold contract?

Who knows what will happen with Missouri caucuses? Paul may have a slight chance given the level of uncertainty. The market pricing is not alway right, it didn't pick Santorum in North Dakota, Alabama or Mississippi & I think it expected Paul to win Maine. It's all about looking for undervalued opportunities.

Just out of curiosity, what is the importance of these districts? Maine leans Democratic but Nebraska is going to be solid Republican.

Re NZD/USD Weekly contract
Can anyone tell me which of the NZUS dollar rates on the Reserve Bank B1 exchange rates page we are using for this contract?
There are two, the mid rate at 11:10am and the NZFMA-WM/Reuters fix at 2pm. This week we are using the 2pm fix, I had feeling we might have been using the 11:10am rate before.
Seeing as there are 2 rates on the page perhaps the contract s
