Actually there are some pretty big orders on the books for David Parker, Russell Norman and Bill English; bigger outstanding orders than you'd find on any other random stock here.by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas

I suppose not even this news will be enough for admin to act on this clearly important issue:by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
The approach that has been taken seems to be to have 1 for the thickness on the MM for pretty much all stocks now. Haven't seen a 10-ner in a long time now.by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
North Korea are claiming they will do more nuclear tests this year: I think it would also be worth having a contract for North Korea to launch another ballistic missile, of they type they launched last November. If this was done, because the "korea peace" contract also closed, you could re-launch that one for "no missile and no nuclear test in 2013".by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
iPredict basically has 0 budget for any sort of feature work whatsoever and there's no indication this will be changing in the short or medium term.by Lanthanide - Feature Requests
Can close at $1. Judgement Criteria states: QuoteThis contract will pay $1 if confirmation of detonation of a nuclear device (meaning energy released in the explosion is primarily due to a process of nuclear fission or nuclear fusion, and not conventional explosives) occurs via: a) an official statement by a North Korean representative acting with suitable authority confirming a detonationby Lanthanide - Closure requests
I would presume that any movement to become a republic would likely coincide with changing the flag anyway, since it's got the union jack on it...by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
Can you please clarify what this means: "An announcement that the Government will use another payroll service in addition to Novopay will not affect the closure of this stock." Should that "affect" really be "effect", as in, if the government announces they're using another service in addition to Novopay, the stock shall remain open?by Lanthanide - Active Stocks
Or potentially could be "Novopay announced to be scrapped" or some-such. I went for Oct 2013 rather than 1st Jan 2014 to make it a little more interesting of a prediction. One thing that comes in to play is that if novopay is dropped, getting something in place before the holidays would be a good idea. There're probably other angles that could be taken on Novopay as well.by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
Yeah, but given the timings of the trades, that would be too obvious and he'd be in hot water for making a private buck out of parliament. A better strategy would be to buy up the stocks slowly over a period of weeks and fly under the radar until he pulled the trigger.by Lanthanide - Active Stocks
Yes, but he claimed in an interview a while ago that either (can't remember) he doesn't trade here much/at all, or doesn't trade on the political stocks. I pointed this out at the time there was the stock on whether he'd apologize to Collins or not - he could easily make a killing against the market if he so chose. This one is a little less in his control, though.by Lanthanide - Active Stocks
I'd guess no more than about 500 active once per week.by Lanthanide - General
I don't see why the trading fees would matter, though, because they are quite small: 0.0035 per trade, and usually any pricing error will be at least 1c or more (due to standard MM granularity). You could easily program the bot to ignore pricing errors of 0.0050 or less anyway and therefore never make a loss. Trading fees are also capped at $5/month.by Lanthanide - Ask A Question
I've seen many instances of bundled stocks reverting to < $1 total as recently as the US presidential state contracts. This is where I would buy or sell on a particular state to significantly change the price (by 10c or more) and because I'm lazy I'd just do it on only the republican or democrat side. The bot would correct the resultant pricing error within seconds. Similarly the only timeby Lanthanide - Ask A Question
I'd short that one. I've had quite a few of my suggestions picked up. I get the impression that there was a lack of new stocks for a while because of site stability, as well as simply having many existing (and boring) stocks already on the books. It actually costs iPredict money to run stocks due to the way the MM functions, so I think they've been trying to limit their financial exposure latby Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
The average user will not see any benefit in the bundle stocks, simply because there is now at least 1 bot running that monitors bundles and trades on them. How it works is like this: say there are 3 stocks that are bundled, and there are buy positions on the books of each stock for 0.40c. This means the total percentage chances of all stocks would be 120%, which is obviously illogical. Usingby Lanthanide - Ask A Question

This company has been around so long, I think we'd have to have a specific reason to launch a stock on it now.by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
Probably worth having, but this is a type of event that can be quite difficult to craft an unambiguous "bright line" test for. I guess we could find 1 hard concrete aspect of the fiscal cliff and have a stock on whether that comes to pass or not. Eg, a specific automatic tax rise or benefit/spending cut.by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
If you're truly trying to predict the outcome, you are expecting a $1 or $0 payout. If you're just trying to speculate in the meantime, tough luck?by Lanthanide - Active Stocks
I'd also point out that the stock doesn't explicitly mention a date range for when the recession needs to have happened, just "before" the election. If stats NZ had announced that actually it turns out there was a recession in mid-2002, would you also want the stock to be closed? On a fair basis, I think we should assume the stock would mean "a recession before the next generby Lanthanide - Closure requests
While I would like it if admin were a bit more transparent about when and why a stock had the MM removed, you should remember this is a "prediction" site, where you're supposed to predict things.by Lanthanide - Active Stocks
With Kim Dotcom recently bringing this up, and just yesterday The Greens, I really think there is scope for some contract around this, for the neglected science and tech category.by Lanthanide - New Stock Ideas
