When the stock was launched it was considered highly unlikely that Shearer would be the next leader. "OTHMP" could be translated as "Shearer", "OTHER" as "Nash".

What happens if Cunliffe is re-elected?

Based upon the last paragraph in these contracts [extracted below], if Cunliffe stays, or is re-elected, I believe that the contract continues to run; i.e. no $0 nor $1 payout.

" For the purposes of this contract, "next" refers to a person different to the Labour Party leader at the launch of this contract i.e. this contract is not affected by the reappointment of David Cunliffe to Leader. "

Megan Woods is not exactly a household name, why did she rate a contract? Was it just an attempt to get some gender balance?

She's very well regarded in Labour circles, particularly in Christchurch as an eventual future leader. Remember the emphasis on 'next' Labour leader, if Cunliffe had won in 2014 led a 3-term government it wouldn't be at all surprising if Woods or another Labour MP not so well known now succeeded him as Labour leader.

That's a very big if, just to win one term let alone 3 terms. The way they are carrying on at present it will be 3 terms before they get their act together.
