US 2012 Presidential Election Winner

In the unlikely event that a Republican or democrat should win on a 3rd ticket (eg ron paul americans elect) would that count as neither republican or democrat?

"Democratic Party candidate to be elected US President in 2012"
"Republican Party candidate to be elected US President in 2012"
"Neither a Democratic or Republican Party to be elected US President in 2012"

Wording probably should have been.

"Democratic Party nominee to be elected US President in 2012"
"Republican Party nominee to be elected US President in 2012"
"Neither a Democratic or Republican Party nominee to be elected US President in 2012"
