If I'm reading the contracts correctly, should either a PP or PSOE prime minister be elected following a second election, that would cause the contract to close at $1, since the contract is defined in terms of the constitutional appointment of a prime minister rather than the outcome of any particular election.
Is my interpretation correct?]]>maxbAsk A QuestionTue, 05 Jan 2016 16:13:58 +1300/forum/read.php?20,34812,34812#msg-34812MM's on NATLEAD stocks (2 replies)

I've got a few questions on the allocation of stocks (in particular, ones that aren't part of a bundle):
How does stock allocation work for stocks that aren't in a bundle?
How many stocks are initially allocated and at what price?
Is the allocation ever increased during the life of the stock?
Are all the buy and sell offers only from other members or are some from iPredict itself?
Why don't you show how many total stocks a prediction has allocated?]]>AztecKnightAsk A QuestionThu, 17 Sep 2015 01:48:43 +1200/forum/read.php?20,34258,34258#msg-34258Petrol prices (6 replies)

If a candidate is entered on nomination day, they are considered to be the candidate on nomination day. If they were to die, and yet win the seat on election day, a by-election would be held. Likewise if they were to "stand down" or "retire". Effectively they cannot retire after nomination day and before the election.
Therefore I would argue that the stock on possible retirements could close once we know who was nominated. If McCully, King or anyone else "retires" after that then it will make no difference.]]>thedoctorAsk A QuestionMon, 14 Jul 2014 12:22:14 +1200/forum/read.php?20,32894,32894#msg-32894Mana Party name change (no replies)

/forum/read.php?20,32856,32856#msg-32856
I have looked at the chart for the stock LEADER.LAB.CUNLIFFE (Cunliffe to be Labour leader on nomination day).
if i hover the mouse over the the price chart it reads to me that 50 stocks were able to be purchased for just $0.001 at 13.16.22.
the stock though is generally trading high ie $0.80 plus
the volume graph though indicates at or around the same period (13.22.21) 91 stocks at $0.9987 were traded.
Was someone really able to buy 50 stocks for peanuts and instantly make $40 or more dollars depending on what they can or did sell them for? if so how does this come about?

/forum/read.php?20,32615,32615#msg-32615
I have a few questions on the basics:
How many shares are available for each prediction?
When a new prediction starts, what price does it start at? 50c?
I can't see anywhere that explains how the share price is determined, but assume it varies as trades are made so that when a prediction closes the people expecting a prediction to close for $1 are balanced off by those expecting it to close for 0c.ie it is a zero sum game. Could someone confirm if that's how it works?
Thanks]]>sipredictAsk A QuestionSun, 05 Oct 2014 00:02:25 +1300/forum/read.php?20,27764,27764#msg-27764Value of shorted stocks (2 replies)
/forum/read.php?20,27764,27764#msg-27764
Let's say I shorted one stock at 0.2000 which means 0.8000 is deducted from my cash.
I know that when I cover the stock later at, for example, 0.0500, then 0.9500 is added to my cash which gives me a profit of 0.1500.
This is all good.
What I don't understand is why, if I have one shorted stock at 0.2000, and the last price is showing as 0.2000 (i.e. no change), the value is showing as 0.8000?
In what way is this shorted stock increasing my worth by 0.8000?
Thanks,
