The point I would make is the intent of the idea behind these contracts was lost over time due to contract wording. These contracts were initially run after public pressure/speculation (in the first instance) on Turbotax to resign.]]>

Thanks, Matt.

It is good that you have followed the contract definition formally and took into account possible interpretations and all available information, not just media hype.

P.S. If there won't the clause about the 3 January 2011, the outcome would be opposite, despite some traders suggestions to close the contract in September and December.]]>

If Larry really hadn't departed then surely he would have been expected to attend the official handover (given he would have been still in the role - at least according to you).

At 11:30 a.m. -- President Obama is expected to name Gene Sperling as head of the National Economic Council, replacing the departing Lawrence Summers.

Mr. Obama is also expected to announce that Gene Sperling, currently a counselor to Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner, will replace Lawrence H. Summers as the new director of the National Economic Council, the White House’s top economic policy job.

Sperling's pick to replace Larry Summers at the economic council follows Obama's naming of a new chief of staff and the resignation of his press secretary, as the president shakes up his team after Republicans took control of the House of Representatives this week.

According to these media reports, the replacement and departure announcement is expected, and thus not happened yet.

there's always a chance that they announce a successor and 10 years later they say, just tricking it was summers all along --- so maybe we shouldn't close it for at least 10, maybe 15 years to be safe???]]>

It is a requirement that it is "announced or widely understood to be permanent" The many press reports quoted make it clear that it is widely understood to be permanent and that it has occured on the last friday of the year.

It's fairly clear from the large number of reports that he is no longer in the job regardless of whether he left within the contract period or not that website you constantly bring up is clearly out of date and irrelevant to the contract

Edit:
Also #2 this isn't a contract on when he will be replaced]]>

As of now, Larry is not replaced: true/false?

What does 1) and 2) mean logically? Larry is not a Schrödinger's cat, so how he can and can't be in the White House simultaneously?]]>

Along with the announcement about Volcker, Obama is expected to announce a new director of the National Economic Council, a role Larry Summers vacated in December to return to Harvard.
Second

Just days after leaving his post as National Economic Council director, Summers has agreed to take a break from forming young minds at Harvard this May to keynote the 17th Annual Alpha Hedge Bermuda Global Hedge Fund Summit, alongside luminaries such as Michael Burry, Daniel Arbess, and Blackstone's Byron Wien. [IMN]

Can the folks pushing the short side POINT TO A SINGLE ARTICLE that says he's still on the job? No. Nothing. Just innuendo based on cryptic readings of what the word "replaced" might mean.

I cry for rationality if the short side folks actually believe what they're here peddling. Pushing BS in hopes of a miracle, I can understand. But Jeebus.
