Long Description

This contract will close at $1 if the number of international visitors to New Zealand is greater than or equal to 3 million in year ended January 2016, as reported by Statistics New Zealand as a total of visitors from January 2015 - 2016. Otherwise it will close at $0.

Judging Criteria 

The purpose of this contract is to forecast the date at which the total number of people visiting New Zealand in one year equals or exceeds 3 million, from any country of residence except New Zealand.

This has implications for New Zealand's economic standing.

This contract will close after Statistics New Zealand release the International Visitor Arrivals to New Zealand: January 2016 document, published on their website.

This contract will take the total number of international visitors from January 2015 to 16 ('Change 2014-15'), from the table 'Country of Residence of Visitors - Year ended July 2011-2015'.

For reference, in Table 4 of IVA February 2015, also taken from the Statistics NZ link above, the annual total visitor arrivals was 2,909,678.

This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
