Pluto to be reclassified as a planet by end 2017

Long Description

This contract will close at $1 if the dwarf planet Pluto has its status changed back to that of a planet before the 1st of January 2018 at 12:00am.

Judging Criteria 

The purpose of this contract is to determine the likelihood that the International Astronomical Union (IUA) will modify the status of Pluto to a planet, by the end of 2017.

Closure will be based off the official statements from the IUA.

The status change must be made to the dwarf planet currently known as Pluto, regardless of whether the name of the celestial body changes before the change.

This contract applies only to Pluto; any other celestial body being designated as a planet will not cause the contract to close at $1.

If the classification of planet undergoes a name or definition change, this contract will close at $1 if Pluto is changed to the new classification, as long as the classification is directly derived from the existing classification of planet, being determined by the majority of the current eight planets being found under this new classification.

iPredict reserves the right to keep this contract open as long as it deems appropriate. iPredict's judgment is final.

This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
