Long Description
This stock pays $1 if New Zealand voters approve the transition to a republic before 1 January 2020, otherwise this stock closes at $0.
Judging Criteria
The purpose of this stock is to ascertain whether New Zealand will announce its intention of becoming a republic by 1 January 2020.
For this stock to pay $1, there must be a formal announcement by 1 January 2020 from Government House, the Prime Minister, or a person of suitable authority that New Zealand intends to officially become a Republic.
The test is for the intention to be formally announced, as the transition period could take months or years.
Becoming a republic means that a member of the Royal family will no longer be our Head of State.
