Long Description
This contract pays $1 if any element is given a name and announced to be added to the Periodic Table before midnight, 31 December 2016. Otherwise it pays $0.
Judging Criteria
The purpose of this contract is to determine the likelihood a new element will be added to the Periodic Table of Elements before the end of 2016.
This contract refers to the next addition of an element to the Periodic Table of Elements, as announced by the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), and as displayed on this page: www.iupac.org/reports/periodic_table/.
This contract's payout is not affected by which number or element is added to the periodic table.
This contract refers only to announcements and the official Periodic Table of the Elements by IUPAC. This contract will not close at $1 for the announcement of a new element being named; or if an element is added by any other group or periodic table source.
Should the IUPAC be renamed, the contract will follow this new named organisation's Periodic Table.
Dates and times refer to US Pacific Standard Time.
This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
