This contract pays $1 if Maurice Williamson ceases to be a Minister of the Crown in the New Zealand Government before 24 May 2012; otherwise this contract pays $0.

Judging Criteria 

The contract refers to 24 May and this is unaffected even if Budget Day is moved to another day.

This contract will close at $1 if Mr Williamson resigns, is sacked or otherwise ceases to be Minister of the Crown in the New Zealand Government before 24 May 2012. It will pay immediately upon announcement of this by either Mr Williamson or the Prime Minister or Acting Prime Minister of New Zealand that is reported at www.nzherald.co.nz and www.stuff.co.nz.

Were Mr Williamson to temporarily stand aside, be stood aside or take leave as a Minister, in a way which falls short of him formally resigning or being dismissed, that would NOT cause this contract to close at $1. Precedents for ministers standing aside or taking leave from their portfolios without formally resigning or being dismissed are Rt Hon. Winston Peters in 2008, pending various investigations; and Hon. Gerry Brownlee, with respect to some of his portfolios to enable him to concentrate on the Christchurch earthquake recovery. In these case, acting ministers were appointed for the various portfolios with the relevant minister formally remaining a minister. A similar formula with respect to Mr Williamson would NOT cause the contract to close at $1.

If necessary, iPredict will seek guidance from the Office of the Prime Minister, the Department of Prime Minister & Cabinet or the Office of the Governor-General. iPredict's judgment is final.

This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
