This contract pays $1 if, before Tuesday 1 March 2013, Shane Jones announces his resignation from Parliament; otherwise it pays $0.

Judging Criteria 

The purpose of this contract is to forecast the probability that Shane Jones will announce his resignation from Parliament prior to the given date.

The contract pays on announcement of the resignation and is not affected by whether or not Mr Jones ultimately tenders his resignation.

However, the resignation that is announced must be clearly intended to be unconditional and imminent - that is, the Mr Jones must announce his intention to resign as soon as administrative procedures reasonably allow rather than, for example, at the next General Election.

The announcement could be communicated via press statement or at a press conference or in a way which is clearly intended to be a formal announcement of a resignation such as a live media interview.

In the event of any doubt, iPredict will be guided by media coverage on www.tvnz.co.nz, www.3news.co.nz, www.nzherald.co.nz and www.stuff.co.nz. If necessary iPredict will seek clarification from Mr Jones.

This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
