Long Description
This contract will close at $1 if any Bill with the effect of collecting GST on online purchases in New Zealand receives Royal Assent by 1 January 2018. Otherwise it will pay $0.
Judging Criteria
The purpose of this contract is to forecast the likelihood that New Zealanders will have to start paying GST on online purchases, through a bill receiving Royal Assent before 1 January 2018.
This includes any Bill with the purpose of collecting GST on online purchases. This contract will close at $1 even if the bill only requires GST to be collected from online purchases within a certain price constraint (eg. only purchases above $15), and regardless of which processes, purchases and companies it affects.
This may include a Bill that does not put GST on every item purchased online, as long as it is "comprehensive" in iPredict's judgement.
This contract is not affected by any changes to terminology in New Zealand's tax system and includes any comprehensive consumption or value-added tax on online purchases, even if they are not referred to as "GST" at that time.
iPredict's judgment is final.
This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
