Long Description

This contract will close at $1 if the board of the Federal Reserve in the United States agrees to raise federal interest rates after its October 27-28 2015 meeting; otherwise this contract will close at $0.

Judging Criteria 

The purpose of this contract is to forecast the likelihood that the board of the FMOC, or the FMOC, will announce at their October meeting or within a month after the meeting, an intention to raise interest rates.

The contract will close at $1 upon any such announcement within 1 month of the final day of the meeting, otherwise it will close at $0.

In the case that an interest rate increase is announced within the 30 day time frame, but is set to be implemented at a later date the contract will still close at $1. (The contract is not concerned with implementation).

The 30 day time frame is to allow for any policy decisions made by the FMOC to be reported in the media or published on the Federal Reserve's website.

Data for this contract will be taken from the Federal Reserve report or from two reputable media sources confirming an FMOC announcement of interest rate rises.
