Long Description

This contract will close at $1 if NASA announces the discovery of extraterrestrial life before 12.01am on 1 Jan 2017 New Zealand time. Otherwise it will close at $0.

Judging Criteria

The purpose of this contract is to forecast the likelihood that NASA will announce the discovery of extraterrestrial life by the end of 2016.

Closure will be based on official statements from NASA confirming the discovery of extraterrestrial life, as reported by three independent and reliable media sources (CNN, Bloomberg, BBC etc).

Life shall include but may not be limited to plants, animals, fungi, protists, archaea, bacteria and fungus. For the purposes of this contract extraterrestrial shall mean life that did not nor does not originate in or from Earth.

The discovery of extraterrestrial life also includes the discovery of evidence of extraterrestrial life. If evidence of extraterrestrial life (including but not limited to: extraterrestrial life that is dead, preserved or fossilised) is discovered the contract will close at $1.00.

Any discovery must be confirmed as being extraterrestrial life by NASA for the contract to be closed at $1. If there is any doubt or ambiguity over a possible discovery iPredict reserves the right to wait until further information or confirmation before closing the contract.

iPredict's decision is final.

This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
