This contract pays $1 if the on-license alcohol purchase age is higher than 18 years on 1 July 2011. Otherwise this contract pays $0.
This contract refers to the minimum legal age for purchasing alcohol at on-license premises in New Zealand. "On-license" means a license which permits Allows liquor to be sold or supplied on the premises described in the license.
The purpose of this contract is to measure expectations for government policy on the drink age for purchasing alcohol in on-license premises in New Zealand.
iPredict will only consider a definitive statement of change in the minimum legal age for purchasing alcohol at an on-license as relevant. iPredict will not consider as definitive words to the effect that the government "is considering" or "is very likely to" change the minimum legal age.
iPredict reserves the right to seek clarification from the Minister before closing this contract.
This contract will immediately close if either the government makes a definitive statement that the on-license alcohol purchase age will or will not change and when, or on 1 July 2011, whichever comes first. Absent any definitive announcement to the contrary, iPredict will assume any change prior to 1 July 2011 will continue to be in effect on 1 July 2011.
This contract will be closed no later than 3 working days after the Close Date. The Close Date may be extended if the event outcome cannot be determined by that date.
